Contest is for amateur singers only. You must be 21 years old and above to enter at Filomena's. The contest runs
for approximately twelve (12) weeks. Each week two names will be chosen by a random drawing of song slips. Singers must perform
solo to be eligible for the drawing. The first winner picked will receive a $15 Gift Card and will be eligible to compete
in the Finals. The second winner will receive a bottle of wine and be listed as an Alternate for the Finals. Alternates may
be called upon to compete in the Finals should too many of the first place winners drop out. Contestants and Alternates will
be contacted one to two weeks before the Contest to verify that they will be coming.
There
will be three "Celebrity" Judges to judge your performance. These will be working, professional musicians and
singers or other professional people in the entertainment industry.
This is not an
"American Idol" style contest. Vocal ability is only one of four criteria you will be judged on. REPEAT!
VOCAL ABILITY IS ONLY ONE OF FOUR CRITERIA YOU WILL BE JUDGED ON. You will also receive points based on Appearance,
Stage Presence, and Audience Response. This is a Karaoke contest with emphasis on entertainment, as well as
on good singing. Being the best singer will not guarantee a win. Please do not
enter this contest unless you fully understand that.
This is meant to be a fun event,
we are not giving out recording contracts. It is free to get in and you have nothing to lose by being in the Contest so please
be a good sport about it. Have a fun night, and if you happen to win something, all the better. That's the proper attitude
to have going in.
All details regarding judging, how to register, registration times,
song selections, and what to expect at the Finals will be emailed to you one to two weeks before the Finals date.
ENTRY FEE
Currently there is no entry
fee to get into this contest.
FINALS / PRIZES
Finals dates TBA. All competing Finalists must perform two karaoke songs (solo) each for a panel
of Celebrity Judges. They will be rated by each Judge using a point system based on Stage Presence and Appearance, Vocal Ability
and Audience Response. First through twelfth place prizes / engraved trophies / medals will be awarded.
Prizes awarded
will be: First Place; $400. Second Place; $100. Third Place; $50 Gift Card. First, second and third place engraved trophies.
Fourth through twelfth place engraved medals.
NO SHOWS
Anyone not showing up to the Finals who did not respond to verification emails and phone calls
will be banned from ever entering any future contests. In the event one or more contestants don't show up for the Finals,
any Alternates present may be asked to "fill in" the vacant spot, at the host's discretion. Fill-ins do not get
bonus points.
WEEKLY DRAWING
All the song
slips for the night from everyone eligible will go into the drawing. The more slips you have in the pot, the greater
your chances of your slip being drawn.
Weekly winners must be present at the time of the drawing to win the weekly prizes
and/or be eligible for the Finals. First place weekly winners can only win once and will be excluded from future weekly drawings.
Second place weekly winners can enter multiple times. No person is obligated to participate in the weekly drawing.
Anyone wishing to remain out of the contest should let Bobby know before the drawing so his/her slips can be removed
from the pot. All rules and dates are subject to change at management's discretion. The first place winner from the previous
contest is not eligible to compete in the current contest.
SPORTSMANSHIP
A
display of poor sporstmanship or any other obvious malice towards any person(s) involved in this contest will result in you
being automatically disqualified from the contest and banned from entering any future contests.
AMATEURS
ONLY
By consenting to compete in the Finals, you certify that you are NOT A PROFESSIONAL SINGER.
For the purpose of this contest, professional singers include anyone who receives or has received monetary compensation for
any performances involving singing either solo or with a group on a continuing basis. An average of 26 times a year would
constitute a continuing basis.
TIES
If there is a tie between
two contestants eligible to win a cash prize, then those contestants will sing a third "tie-breaker" song and get
scored by the Judges using the same system of points to decide the winner. If the result is still a tie, then the contestant
whose three scores for vocal ability add up to the highest number will be the winner. If the result is still tied, then
the contestants who are tied will split the prize money between them. ($250 each for first and second place). Any other place
winners (3 and up) eligible for a prize who are tied will be determined by who has the most bonus points, or coin toss if
they are still tied.
BONUS POINTS
Bonus points are given out
to reward those of you who got out of your way to make an effort to come out and support Karaoke night. Song slips will be
saved from week to week to keep track of who was present each week. You can earn one half bonus point for each week that you
return to the show, up to a maximum of five (5) points. These points will get added directly to your score in the Finals.
You have to sing and fill out a song slip in order to get credit for being at the show.
COSTUME
CHANGES
You may make a costume change in between the first and second rounds if you care to do
so. Costume changes can earn you 0-2 extra points, at the judges discretion. In order to be considered for costume change
points, you have to check the "costume change" check box on the registration form you will receive the night of
the Finals.
PROPS
Props like musical instruments, signs, chairs or
basically anything that is not too large to fit on stage with you is acceptable. "Live" props (people, not animals)
are also OK. Most anything goes, so long as it is legal and entertaining. There will be a mic stand available on stage to
use if needed.
